Pono - Our Vision and Values
Our overarching value is to embody the Hawaiian concept of pono.
Pono [sounds like “Poh-noh”] in Hawaiian means “goodness, morality, excellence, well-being, prosperity, welfare, benefit, equity; duty; righteous, just, virtuous, fair, beneficial, successful; necessary.”
As a company and as individuals, we strive to do what is pono…to do what is right, just, and equitable in everything that we do. This value makes up the heart and soul of our company.
Pono is a guiding and driving force in every decision we make as a company, including:
- Sourcing certified organic ingredients and fair trade ingredients whenever possible.
- Educating our customers and the general public about pressing issues surrounding threatened and endangered plant and animal species here in Hawaiʻi, and how you can get involved.
- As a tea farm we use only sustainble agricultural practices - no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilizers. For our PONOinfusions tea offerings, we support growers who practice organic and sustainable agricultural methods.
- Sharing and spreading the spirit of aloha by communicating lessons we can learn and apply in our daily lives through a better understanding of traditional Hawaiian cultural values.
